Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s visit to the White House on February 28 took an unexpected turn when his choice of attire sparked controversy. The Ukrainian president, known for wearing military-style clothing since Russia’s invasion, was criticized for not wearing a traditional suit during his meeting with President Trump.
Trump remarked, “He is all dressed up today,” setting the stage for a tense encounter. Despite being advised to wear formal attire, Zelenskyy refused. When asked by reporter Brian Glenn about his decision not to wear a suit, Zelenskyy responded, “I will wear a suit after this war is over.”
Glenn, a MAGA supporter, later tweeted, expressing empathy for Ukraine but criticized Zelenskyy’s attire as disrespectful, implying it undermined his plea for U.S. support.
Despite the criticism, Zelenskyy remained focused on his country’s ongoing struggle.
