During a White House press briefing on March 27, Trump seemed to stumble over his words when referring to her, ultimately calling her “JD Vance’s wife” rather than using her name.
The trip itself has caused controversy. Greenland’s government denied Trump’s claim that the visit was “invited,” clarifying that no official invitation had been extended. Trump insisted the trip was about friendship, but Greenland’s Prime Minister, Múte B. Egede, questioned the visit’s motives, stating it appeared to be a demonstration of power rather than a harmless gesture.
Even Fox Business host Larry Kudlow struggled with remembering Usha Vance’s name, calling her simply “JD Vance’s wife” on air. Despite Trump’s insistence that the visit was friendly, Greenland’s leadership remains skeptical about the true intent behind the trip.
