Johnny Mathis Retires at 89 Due to Age, Memory Loss

Legendary crooner Johnny Mathis, known as “The Voice of Romance,” is retiring from touring after a stunning 70-year career. Now 89 and facing memory issues, Mathis will take his final bow on May 18 in New Jersey. All shows after June 2025 are canceled.

Famous for hits like Chances Are and The Twelfth of Never, Mathis sold over 350 million records and earned countless honors, including a Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award. Though he’s stepping off the stage, his music will echo for generations.
