Pirro explained that Jones, 50, of Lafayette, Indiana, traveled from New York to Washington, D.C., where she continued making threats on Facebook and Instagram. “She called the president a terrorist and was working to have him eliminated. She is now in custody and will be prosecuted to the full extent of the law,” Pirro said. Her office confirmed that Jones was arrested in D.C. on August 16 and charged in U.S. District Court with threatening to kill, kidnap, or harm the president, as well as transmitting threats in interstate commerce. Pirro emphasized the severity of the offense, praising law enforcement and Secret Service agents for protecting national leaders.

Court documents show that between August 2 and 15, Jones—using the Instagram handle “nath.jones”—posted multiple threats against Trump, calling for his removal, labeling him a terrorist, and criticizing his handling of the coronavirus pandemic. On August 6, she allegedly told the FBI she was willing to “sacrificially kill this POTUS” with a bladed object. She continued posting threats online, including messages to Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth requesting Trump’s “arrest and removal ceremony.” During two voluntary interviews with the Secret Service, Jones admitted to making the threats, called Trump a “terrorist” and a “Nazi,” and described her intent to carry out the threats. Following a protest march near the White House on August 16, she was arrested and acknowledged ownership of the threatening social media accounts, according to DOJ officials.
