Ann Serrano gave famous husband a kidney, years later he betrayed her

The Kidney That Outlasted the Marriage.

In 2005, George Lopez’s wife, Ann Serrano, made an extraordinary sacrifice: she gave him a kidney to save his life. At the time, Lopez’s health was rapidly declining due to a congenital condition. Serrano didn’t hesitate, saying it was an “easy decision” to save someone she loved.

But even before the transplant, Lopez had been unfaithful. Though Serrano hoped the surgery would keep their family together, Lopez’s fame and infidelities grew. In 2010, Serrano filed for divorce after learning of his double life through the tabloids.

Despite their painful split, the two remained close, co-parenting their daughter Mayan and continuing their work with the Lopez Foundation. Today, George and Mayan even star together in Lopez vs Lopez, using humor to heal old wounds.

Though their marriage ended, Serrano’s incredible gift — and their enduring bond — remains a testament to resilience, forgiveness, and the complicated love of family.
