Gallup noted that Democrats themselves drove the decline, with confidence among Democratic voters falling 41 points since last year.
The drop follows Democratic losses in the last election, which saw Republicans retake the White House and Senate while holding the House. Republicans also made inroads with Black, Hispanic, and young voters.
A Yale Youth Poll released Tuesday found voters aged 18–21 favored Republicans by 11.7 points, while 22–29-year-olds leaned Democratic. However, voters under 30 showed low favorability toward both parties’ leaders.
